They are about the real world. The real world is full of evil and gore and death and fear.

Also if Saw and Hostel are desensitizing, I’d love to hear what James thinks of The Human Centipede series.

And with the next Resident Evil movie comming, I think there is a little niche that would be worth to be mentioned (even if only to say it sucks): The horror videogame films.

Thank you, James, for sharing all the horror you have watched.

I do not know about you… but the ‘twist endings’ in M. Night Shyamalan’s movies are… SO PREDICTABLE.

Both in the 6th sense and The Village I saw ‘the twist’ comming right from the start of the movie..

=============

Also Remakes… ARE SHIT… for the 99.9% of the time. I like Carpenter’s remake of The Thing, for example… or the remake of Little Shop of Horrors with Moranis and Murray, but those are exceptions.

I suppose that in the 80’s (and sometimes 90’s) there still was some creativity and skil, so the movies they remade were sometimes an improvement on the original, or at least a decent movie.

====

Cabin Fever sucks… for many reasons. Eli Roth is just not a good writer, director or actor…
I do not recomend any of his movies.

====

Despite I think Rob Zombie movies are horrible piles of shit and he should not make anymore, I did like the Devil’s Rejects… maybe there was a planetary allignment that day and a miracle occured…

====

SAW:

I did quite like the first one. I thought it was quite original and suspenseful and with a nice ending.

All the sequels are pointless. Saw was a movie that was interesting ONCE, when the character of JigSaw is still unknown and a mystery.

=====

In conclusion:

there are some rare good movies nowadays, but most are pieces of shit.

The problem is that in the past you had many ‘it’s so bad it’s good’ movies… these days they are just plain bad… like The Human Centipede… or Alone in the Dark… ugh,,,,

totally agree with your diatribe. Feel that the entertainment industry in general has hit rock bottom. Maybe that’s why I always return to the old stuff for entertainment, be it music or film. Thank god for netflix because i’m always finding some gem from the sixties or seventies that i haven’t seen before

There are too many movies that are unoriginal remakes, too many artists that just do uninspired, unoriginal covers of songs, popular music in general is completely uninspired, there are too many “reality” based television shows which require almost ZERO writing behind it, too many talent shows/variety shows, and the list goes on and on. There are far too many people in the entertainment industry making way too much money for the teeny bit of work and thought they put into their medium. And the biggest problem is that the stupid consumers, us the viewers, keep taking big fat bites out that shit sandwich they keep cramming down our throats. We keep tuning in, we keep buying their music, keep buying the DVDs, keep paying the box office for a ticket to see and listen to this GARBAGE. There are a VERY small minority of inspired artists out there that make quality work, and I pay for their stuff, but everything else out there I skip completely. I don’t watch TV anymore, I haven’t watched TV in over 3 years. And its only going to get worse until people wise up and stop paying for this crap. This is why I get all my entertainment from the internet. Sure, there’s a lot of STUPID shit, but a lot of it is original, and that’s a helluva lot more than I can say about umm.. oh say the whorish kardashians or jersey douchebags, or american buttplug idols. Fuck.

Okay. I’m getting off my soap box. I’m going to give myself a fucking aneurysm.
