I think the big problem with the dialogue of the prequels is that Lucas wrote it himself and the actors didn’t get to adlib anything, unlike the original trilogy where the actors adlibbed all the time because they had a better understanding of what their characters were supposed to be like. Best example, in “Empire Strikes Back” when Han is getting frozen in carbonite, Leia says she loves him and Han said “I know.” His original line was “I love you too” and Harrison Ford went to director Irvin Kershner and told him that the line was stupid and Han Solo would never say something mushy like that and adlibbed the famous “I know.”

Technically he’s right. He didn’t “own” either Artoo or Threepio (I like spelling the names out) but rather just worked with them a lot.

How about this one though?
In A New Hope- Obi Wan states “I don’t remember owning a droid”

Yet- in all the prequels- R2 and C-3PO ARE THERE ALMOST EVERY MINUTE

That, or his memory was shit.

The only things I liked? Lightsaber battles, the hype killing it *at the time*, and Christopher Lee vs Yoda.

I think this movie and The Matrix were the beginning of “Make it look pretty- story later!- oh no, we spent all our money- no write-release, release now* era of movies

Sadly 🙁

Being someone who grew up with both trilogies, I don’t hate the prequels like everyone else does (that doesn’t make me blind to all their flaws though).

Lucas is in love with himself and his hubris alone made Episode 3.
