I agree that it’s overrated. I was glad when Vertigo beat it as best film of all time in a 2012 critics poll. That said I don’t really find it to be a boring movie. In addition to the interesting cinematic techniques used, I also am fascinated by the story of CFKane…even if my 6th grade music teacher gave away the ending before I ever saw it.

Wow. It blew my mind as an adult 82 years later. I watched this review after and it very concisely answered some “How’d They Do that?” questions I had and it also summed up my feelings pretty well.

And yet in both cases the original still comes off as…well original, not to say that I don’t enjoy schlocky ape movies to a degree but Kong to this day still manages to be in a league of his own.
