In the Plan 9 comic, he seems to be indicating tombstones falling over in the first panel, like the cardboard ones in the movie. Also, it looks like he’s making fun of the way Not-Bela-Lugosi pulled a cape over the bottom half of his face to make it look like he’s Bela Lugosi — and, at the age of 15, I’m pretty sure a horror movie buff like James would have known enough about the REAL Bela Lugosi to tell the difference.

I used to draw my own comic books, too, when I was a kid. Unfortunately, none of them have survived, but I don’t think they were as good as these. I mean, like someone says, they are cheesy in a way, yet somehow very cool and engaging.
