I remember when I used this glasses for the first time, it was a great experience. You could use the glass with Light Phaser Pistol at the same time on determined games like Missile Defender 3D. Awesome!

It’d be nice if they had a back strap to them, like on goggles, so they wouldn’t keep slipping down the nose. Here’s an example of what I had to do as a kid: Big prescription glasses secured to my face with thick glass straps. 3D glasses secured to my prescription glasses with rubber bands.

I played Zaxxon 3D but the glasses didn’t help. It DID display in 3D, but the perspective in the channel and layout of enemies made it difficult to see what you were getting close to and if a projectile was about to hit you or not. The black starry background didn’t help because it emphasized the double vision that one may get.

Space Harrier 3D on the other hand was the MOST AWESOME TRIP!!! The glasses really helped me to see which enemies were closer and what was about to hit me.

It is true that you have to sit closer to the screen to see better and for it to be more effective. How the 3D works is how current battery-operated 3D glasses work. When your eye is supposed to see the right side of an object, the left eye sight gets blacked out. When you see the left, the right gets blacked out. (This causes a flicker, noticeable at lower frame rates.) Instead of seeing both sides at the same time, there is a fraction of a second difference, but it’s so fast our brains see the two images as one. If you tilt your head the illusion stops working.

The Sega glasses used polarized LCD technology to block your vision. (Think LCD screen calculators) Since the blockage wasn’t 100% opaque- the vision is darkened but not completely blocked- you can see a ghosting/ double images.

I wear glasses and I can’t see the TV screen without them unless I’m really close. I’ve heard people say that the movie theatre 3D glasses are uncomfortable over prescription glasses. So I can’t imagine how weird the Master System glasses must feel.

@Trojan_Reggae  @BillCosby Ah, I’m not that much of a grammar nazi! “Sporadically” had a lot of emphasis on it there. ;D

@BillCosby Ah, keyword was “sporadically”. While I don’t recommend it, I accept the usage of “u” instead of “you”. It’s just that you switched between the two! Besides that, I was pulling your leg.
