I wouldn’t say Stoltz was a temporary pick either. He was cast, hoping that he would be good enough, but he played the part too seriously and both he and Spielberg thought that it would be better if he left the project. Spielberg then got Fox, obviously. If Stoltz played the part more comedicly like intended, he would’ve permanently been Marty McFly. He just left because things didn’t work out, not because he was a placeholder for Fox, that just doesn’t make sense.

In case you havent heard, it was actually a GIRL, not a guy!
Her pants were too tight when she sat down so she undid the button and zipper. Obviously, she mist have forgotten that they were undone when the extras were told to rise and ‘cheer’. Still its FUNNY AS SH*T!!!!!

Indeed, Michael J. Fox was filming Family Ties, but he worked BOTH sets for a time. He would shoot Family Ties in the daytime, and would then at night would shoot night scenes for Back to the Future. That’s why a lot of the scenes he’s in for the first movie has him looking like he’s in some kind of stupor; he was literally only getting maybe 1 or 2 hours of sleep a night for several weeks. That’s what I call dedication.
