Some Bela-trivia?
Technically, he’s not from Hungary. When he was born in Lugoj the country was called Austria-Hungary. And now Lugoj is in Romania.
And since James is wearing his beloved Oktoberfest-shirt here: Lugosi’s made his very first appearence in a horror-movie in Germany in 1920,where he lived from 1919-1921.The movie was titled “Der Januskopf” (“The head of Janus”),an unauthorized adaption of Jekyll and Hyde. And the director was? F.W. Murnau, who two years later directed Nosferatu 🙂

It kind of reminded me of those unlikeliest battles videos.

How about Rasputin in Nicolas and Alexandria and all other Rasputin-ish films?
A great bit of casting…Bela as Scary German Guy from Monster Squad!
As Doctor Zorba in Ben Casey?
As Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof?
Bela as Peter Vincent in Fright Night…role fits as if tailor made!
Lugosi, a face that screams concentration and wisdom, portraying Hercule Poirot! The accent ain’t so off target!
And Lugosi as Ras Al Ghul, who was obviously based on a combo of Bela and Commissioner Dolan from the Spirit.
