Why are there so many horrible US/English localization choices in the horror/monster movie genre, especially Godzilla/Gamera? They literally make it WORSE almost every time consistently instead of their intended goal of making it better or more palatable to western audiences. I just imagine some arrogantly idiotic executive every time making these decisions, unable to be questioned by people “below” him who actually do know better, but he can’t admit that for his own business reputation/pride/ego. It happens.

This is easily the worst of the classic Gamera series. The rival monster’s not very interesting, too much science explanation stuff, and it’s just disgustingly gory.

I forgot to include into my comment on the last Gamera video about how funny it was when you mentioned Gamera grabbing ice and icing down his wounds. Friggin awesome!

The video reviews for the Gamera series have been so crazy! The Frankenstein series started to feel like they were all the same but this Gamera series involves him shoving telephone poles into his ears, an actual elephant’s trunk getting severed, and a monster’s epic awakening ruined by him naturally drinking water- CRAZY 😀 Keep up the great work James! [i’m still waiting on a ‘Pacific Rim’ movie review]

it always pissed me off when an americanized version of one of these great classics changed the fuckin name.. i mean if you can’t even remember the name of the film why even bring it to the states? its an insult to the original producer..

Nice review. It’s too bad that the movie seems to be your typical kaiji film, but it is what it is. And thank you for not showing us the elephant trunk surgery. That’s just weird and gross! I think the film makers just wanted to brag that they knew of this strange documentary that covered this really weird case. I know I’ve never heard of such a thing until now.
