Prometheus sucked, everyone always calls it a prequel which doesn’t make sense for a big part. I always thought they showed the early stages of what would become the Xenomorph race since it all seemed crude and primitive.

If we take AVP as canon or canon-leaning, this whole program must be like a cult within Weyland-Yutani. No matter how many years, decades, or centuries pass, they always have a ready team of expendables headed up by a machine-disguised-as-Human or a Human who might as well be. How many CEO’s come and go never even learning this goal exists? They may wear suits instead of robes, but yeah, a cult. Like any good SF/F cult, their coveted artifact never stays under any sort of control.
