I work at a grocery store as a bagger and lots of people buy bottled water. Like 24 and 32 packs of it every week. I understand people doing it if there’s a boil water order. But I’m guessing that for whatever reason people just would rather spend lots of money a month on this bottled water than tap water because they just like the taste of it better. I’ve never bought bottled water. I’m pretty content with the water that comes out of my sink.

It’s funny though. I have a friend who in higshcool who for a science fair project, did an experiment where he tested out how clean tap water and bottled water were. He found out there is more bacteria in bottled water than in tap water. So it’s actually not cleaner as people think.

To be fair, salt helps your body retain water, so it being there actually helps hydrate you more. If you become dehydrated, the WHO recommends you drink this:

World Heath Organization/UNICEF Oral Rehydration Fluid
1 liter water (obviously, this should be disinfected)
10 g (2 teaspoons) sugar
2.5 g (1/2 teaspoon) salt
2.5 g (1/2 teaspoon) baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)

Avoiding water or any food or drink for that matter, because it has “Chemicals” in it, is really not necessary. People treat the word “chemcial” as if it means “poison”, but in reality, almost everything you have ever eaten and will ever eat, contains chemcials that serve a purpose for the product. People should just chill a little about this kind of thing.

Chorine GAS (Cl2), is toxic. Aqueous Cloride IONS, (Cl-), on the other hand, are needed by the body for proper neuron function. Excess Cl- ions are found primarily in plasma and are filtered extremely efficiently by the kidneys when in excess. They are the OPPOSITE of a “cumulative” toxin. Also citric acid is citric acid, no matter where it comes from.

Don’t depend on Internet click-bait like “NutritionalAnarchy” to explain these details though. They don’t care about your health nearly as much as they care about generating traffic, and shocking (but unsupported) claims are far more effective than the ACTUAL science. As a rule of thumb, if a health article has no NIH citations, it’s not worth reading.
