I remember seeing Saw 1 in the theater. It came out around the same time as 7 and I thought the two were somewhat similar. I also remember in the theater at the end when the bad guy stood up and you realized he was the guy you thought was dead the whole time. That was awesome and shocking in the theater.

In reply to Jukka-Pekka Tuominen. I didn't like Saw II either. Most people like that there were more traps and more gore but I didn't like that it broke Jigsaw's rules. Some people never had any chance to escape. The poison started killing them before they could finish and Xavier went psycho and started killing people.

The idea to “saw” your limb off to survive came from the ending to the original Mad Max movie when Max hands the guy a saw after handcuffing him to a car that’s going to explode.
