Guys, the game you’re talking about was Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven. And it was really great! Excellent scenario and amazing atmosphere (1930’s city, cars, and jazz music on the radio [mostly Django Reinhardt]). But forget about the freeness of a GTA, it was a pretty linear game, tbh.

And, Jayram, forget about the Xbox (let alone PS2) version because it was terrible compared to the PC version, released around 2001 (if I’m not mistaken).

Alternatively, you can also try Mafia II (taking place in the 1950’s), released a few years ago, which is beautiful but very disappointing as the marketing team decided to cut through the great scenario and get rid of a huge lot of things to split the game into useless DLCs…
