also video stores used to have the tag system by where they put a hook on the shelf and used a different color tags like the size of a coin and you had to take that up to get a copy of the movie that came in plastic clear/shitty cover for vhs.

god I remember video stores like that, im only 20 and I even remember those vhs’ was my childhood. my mom would take me and my brother to either blockbuster or our local store hollywood video, it was an event gotng there. and me an my brother would go trait to the game section and pic out our games and then meet my mom somewhere in the store, it be like a scavenger hunt to find her. and then we walk around looking at movies, look at the boxes and the back, sometimes for hours and then we go to the counter to check out and of course we would get some candy, best part of the trip when we were kids and then we have a movie night, so much fun. we were so bad at returning them, my mom had like $100 late fee and at one point she forgot one for so long she asked to buy it and she did. I wonder if we still have it..

actually if some of the movies have a bar code you can get a program that saves them in a SQL database and check in the future but ofc not all old movies got those. :/
