I also disagree that parody genre was dying. after all we got americna pies, scary movie and other shit attempts at parody. The problem was that the genre turned to shit.

We watch it every 2/3 month and it really grows on me.
The Renfield character is overwhelingly funny.
RIP Leslie

A spoof of the Exorcist. Also, Linda Blair has an important role. HBO had this on repeat when I was a kid.

The closest you get now are the “scary movie” movies and others like it but they aren’t anywhere near as good as the likes of The Naked Gun.

And about this movie, I always liked it. Never undertood why people didn’t. And I’m not a horror fan so I didn’t get the references either.
But I always loved Leslie Nielsen. RIP.

I think all of Mel Brooks’ spoof movies are pretty great. It’s too bad it ended with this. He’s still alive 20 years later, he COULD have directed another one…

And I really miss this type of films and SPECIALLY Leslie Nielsen. Who was THE GOD of comedy.
I miss the deadpan delivery.
All we get nowadays is boring indie comedies. Fuck that… -.-

Maybe I should look into it. I also recall watching Saturday The 14th (1981) every time after Ernest Scared Stupid (1991). There was also the Tropic Thunder (2008) film which was kinda like Platoon in a way. I usually see more parodies done in small bits in animated shows now though like in The Simpsons, Family Guy, or South Park, and also in adult films. Then there’s Rick And Morty with Back to the Future as its main inspiration.
