In reply to Smokingspoon. Zelda BOTW doesn't have day 1 DLC, you can pre-order the DLC on day one but the DLC it's only going to be released some months later (no specific date that I know).

You know why the Wii sold so much even being under powered. It was very cheap to get and people got them. The thing about Switch it’s too much in my opinion. It should be $200. I just got a PS4 with a $60 game for $210 so why would I want to pay more for an underpowered system. They say the Switch is as powerful as a PS4? The PS3 is still more powerful then the Switch what are they talking about. Well being docked is more like the PS3 but the games are lighter graphic games. I won’t get it until it goes down in price and has more games out. I think it’s over hyped and those controller based games are like mini games to have fun with at parties not something to do alone. It will be fun for a little while. I just want some exclusive games to come out that I am used to and have better graphics and good gameplay. A new Super Mario World, Ghost and Goblins, Metroid, F-zero, Zelda that looks more real not cartoon. There is so many old games that need to come into the 3D or better detail 2D for the system. I think they need to start making games we are used to cause it will make the system even if it’s not as good as the new systems. They should have game of classic NES titles to play on it too. People would get that instead of the mini or emulators if Nintendo would put NES or SNES of like 30 or 50 titles as a Switch game to play on the go or not. It would sell the console.

The thing about indie games is that, yeah there could be support for Nintendo, but at the same time, there wouldn’t be as big a use for all of those features that it seems to have. I know I wouldn’t find a LOT of use for it unless it’s a pure gimmick.

…although I do like Nintendo over the Playstation and XBox because it stands out as being the unique specimen- it’s much easier to find a unique game on a Nintendo rather than a Playstation.

Almost forgot to mention the DLC for Zelda: Breath of the Wild! 🙂 Not sure why they felt the need to do that. I mean, the demo they had at E3 was only 2% of the content. It’s obvious a huge game, so why on earth would they feel to the need to do that? DLC is a double edged sword. While it’s nice to be able to buy extra content, I sometimes wonder if that money spent on DLC would be better invested in a game. Which is the same problem I have with paid online. I don’t need all the leaderboards, and all that jazz. Just give me a good quality online system that works, and I’ll be happy. No bells and whistles.

I think the cynicism that some people have about this system is unwarranted. I think it will do well. It is a shame that the 1-2 Switch will not be included, and I don’t like the idea of paid online. But this system will do very well for itself. In terms of them going to paid online, I think that the main reason that they went to it is because they lost all of the profits from the Wii, to the Wii U. They need to make sure that they definitely make up for that lost revenue. All and all, though, the more that I see of the Switch, the more that I like it!

In reply to Smokingspoon. Mhm. But yeah, those trends of getting the better newer techs, so cringy.. I find that videogame advances have been stagnant in general for the last decade because of that. And seriously, do we really need to go 4k xD... I'm still perfectly happy with my 720. Heck, I still have a crt tv and I won't be discarding it before it fails. Tv lobbyist brainwash.

True, in a sense, but they shouldn’t be at the end of their life. That’s Microsoft and Sony forcing it upon you.
The Xbox 360 was out for eight years before the Xbox One was released, the PS3 had seven years before the PS4. Three years later after both their releases you’ve already got the Xbox One S and the PS4 Pro. They are both releasing updated or new consoles at a faster rate than before that isn’t needed, except to stay one step ahead of the other and to keep money rolling in. Because consumers always want the latest and greatest tech (look at the ridiculous prices people pay for new iPhones) they’ll continue to throw money at them and Sony/Microsoft know this.

The PS5 isn’t due to be released until 2020, so it’s not even a blip on the radar at the moment.

In Japan it might be a success but I can’t see it making a dent in the PS/Xbox sales elsewhere. You can get a PS4/Xbox One S for around the same price as the Switch but they’ve got the advantage of having around a thousand games each already available. Let’s also not forget that the mighty Xbox Scorpio is due to be released later this year too.
Instead of all the gimmicky nonsense Nintendo have become obsessed with in recent years it should just look to make a damn good console with great games and have third-party developers lining up to make games for it.
(it may verge on blasphemy for some people to hear this, but i’ve never enjoyed any Zelda game)

looks interesting tho I rather have the NES Classic , zelda looks like the only good game so far , I’m just waiting until its on sale.
