The scene where the TVs explode I believe was a reference to Russian televisions, which were notoriously dangerous in real life. They’d actually blow up on you.

I remember not liking the movie as a kid. I think what annoyed me among other things was how short Sagat was. Just ow dissimilar the casting looked compared to the cartoonish characters. Except maybe Vega/balrog, he wasn’t tall enough, but he was pretty well done.

Poor Capcom. This movie was the complete opposite of the live action Mortal Kombat movie which was at least a decent early attempt at a videogame movie. Funnily enough I don’t find the Street Fighter movie videogame to be that bad at all, it just gets a bad rap because of the movie.
