Here’s something interesting. An AVGN plush doll made by fan Jimmy from Sweden. It’s handmade and about 25 cm high (sitting). And oh God! It’s playing Fester’s Quest!

I enjoy receiving stuff like this from fans, but every once in a while, I need to take a moment and contemplate this. My likeness has been seen all around the world. I’ve been drawn, painted, and sculpted. My face has been photoshopped onto various celebrities/characters. I’ve been made into a South Park character hundreds of times. I’ve been made into a pinata. The <a href=”http://cinemassacre.com/AVGN/gallery/Selected_Gallery/”>fan art</a> seems to go on forever. It’s very flattering.
I’m used to it, but sometimes I wonder what the appeal is and how this whole thing has caught on so much. So here comes along <a href=”http://www.cinemassacre.com/AVGN/other/Criticism-style.pdf”>an essay by a graduate student in English at NYU</a> which explains it down to a science. It’s a study on the styles of criticism. Starting on page 7, I’m used as an example. It’s well written and extremely flattering. There’s only one minor error. YouTube didn’t exist back in May 2004. The first two Nerd videos could only be seen on VHS tapes at that time.
